Eddie the Big White Cat

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

Eddie didn't mind the holy water, and really enjoyed the cat treats, which happened to be his favorite!

Phyllis Lovett of Torrington brought Eddie to the St. Francis Feast Day Pet Blessing at St. Michael’s.  Eddie was not only a gracious blessee, but probably the most famous cat in Torrington when his picture was on the front page of local news in the Waterbury Republican the next day.

St. Michael’s Pet Blessing

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

St. Michael’s welcomed dogs and cats inside our church for the second Pet Blessings & Celebrations to celebrate the Feast Day of St. Francis.  All beloved companion animals, held in arms and in memory, were celebrated and joined together in spirit and blessed in the name of St. Francis.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen. ~Attributed to St. Francis

Painted Faces & Fingernails & Balloons, Oh My!

Sunday, October 2nd, 2011

Molly Lennon helped entertain at the children's activities booth, along with Dimples the Clown.

Molly Lennon declined to have her face painted by Dimples the Clown, but cheerfully demonstrated how it is done by posing for a photo.  The children’s activities included frog beanbag toss (with insects no less), nail polishing, crafts by the Litchfield History Museum, Facepainting and sculpted balloons by Dimples the Clown,  and a scavenger hunt inside the church, followed by the fabulous production of “The Dragon King” by the Tanglewood Marionettes.

St. Michael’s Faire was Shining!

Sunday, October 2nd, 2011

Patricia St. John's Enchanted Environments were so captivating that Don Moore purchased one that Patricia had generously donated to our silent auction.

Like St. Michael vanquishing the dragon, the 10th Annual Fete & Craft Faire beat the rain and offered Faire-goers all sorts of delights!

Hobbits and Hares at the Faire!

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

If you look very closely at this container garden by Patricia St. John, you can see a tiny bridge over a tiny stream, leading to a tiny door in a Hobbit house.

This year is the 10th Annual St. Michael’s Fete & Craft Faire so we’re pulling out all the stops! In addition to some wonderful artists and crafters, we will feature the amazing spectacle of “The Dragon King” by the Tanglewood Marionettes, there will be Newfoundland Dwarf Bunnies waiting to be petted, Dimples the Clown will offer facepainting, the Litchfield Historical Society will instruct how to build a Colonial spoon doll and how to play the ancient game of “Graces,” there will be obstacle courses to navigate, beanbags to toss, a scavenger hunt to puzzle out, and wonderfully different handcrafted items from Africa and Hungary, as well as representatives of the renowned Shen Yun dance troupe to answer questions about their amazing performances. Oh my! Don’t miss the Faire!
