This month our bags included: pound of butter, dozen eggs, pound of bacon, sliced bread, cheese, jam, peanut butter, tuna, mac & cheese, rice, frozen vegetables, hearty canned soup, and fresh fruit. Food Rescue brought Bantam Bread and greens from Vibrant Farms. Kale and
other greens were donated by Chanticleer Farm and Earth’s Palate.
Our household count soared from recent months to the second highest level seen since the
beginning of our Pop the Trunk format in August 2020. In addition to the bags loaded into cars,
a total of 25 bags were delivered this month to Wells Run, Tannery Brook and Bantam Falls to seniors who were unable to come on their own.
We are now planning and ordering food for the Pantry just before Thanksgiving. Last week we organized a meeting with other area organizations serving those experiencing food insecurity.
We agreed to coordinate our offerings for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays to be sure our visitors and others in our community can access turkeys and other traditional holiday food.
