This month our bags included the following items which we purchased:
1 lb. butter, cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, gravy, pumpkin, mayonnaise, bread, cream of mushroom soup, onions,
coffee, pasta, tuna, frozen vegetables.
We included ½ gallon milk through the generosity of
Food Rescue and other donors. As the week progressed, we received donations of fresh produce from an array of area farms including Vibrant Farms and several private entities. Generous supplies of large pears and potatoes arrived just in time to add them to our bags.
Our household count remained at roughly the level seen last month, near the high since the beginning of our Pop the Trunk format in August 2020. In addition to the bags loaded into cars, 25 bags were delivered this month to Wells Run, Tannery Brook and Bantam Falls to seniors who were unable to come on their own. We had one new household drive up and 11
households took advantage of friend’s cars to double up.
Again this month, a partnership with other area organizations, launched with a meeting at the Community Center, hosted with the Bantam Pantry enabled us to add flyers to our bags with contact information for holiday food baskets and gift cards which will be available for Christmas. We will plan our own bags for December to complement those offerings from
others.
The Litchfield Intermediate school food drive produced a large donation of shelf stable food which we will include in bags in coming months.
We would be glad to hear from you with general questions or specifics about assisting with plans for the upcoming holidays.
