A small, highly skilled group of volunteers braved the forecast for rain outside the St. Michael’s Community House for our monthly distribution of grocery bags.
This month our bags included: one pound of butter, cheese, cold cuts, sliced bread, mayonnaise or mustard, tuna, oranges or clementines, raisins, canned beef stew, mac & cheese, pasta sauce, frozen
vegetables and pound cake. Plus, for pets only, volunteer Kate Honan’s gourmet frozen, cooked chicken bits were offered.
Household count continued toward the high end of the range we have seen since adopting our “Pop the Trunk” format to provide safety for patrons and volunteers during the covid pandemic. This continues to be considerably more families than we served during our
“customer choice”, pre-pandemic model.
In addition to the bags loaded into cars, 28 bags
were delivered to residents at Wells Run, Tannery Brook and Bantam Falls to seniors who were unable to come on their own.
We would be glad to hear from you with general questions or specifics about assisting with our plans during the months ahead and the elevated need which seems likely to continue.
Thank you to all who assist us!
