This month our bags included: Half gallon milk, pound of butter, cheese, loaves of sliced bread, cold cuts, peanut butter, pasta sauce, tuna, hearty soup, vegetables, pasta packets. In addition, our egg collector Harvey Miller brought a limited supply of early spring production which we gave to families with children while they lasted. The numbers above include 19 bags which were delivered to residents at Wells Run, Tannery Brook and Bantam Falls who were unable to come on their own.
Household count in March remained similar to that seen in recent months. We saw 4 new households avail themselves of our assistance. For whatever reason, the percentage of seniors served was significantly higher than usual and the number of children was correspondingly lower. We continue to be more generous to large families and gave extra bags of food to 6 families of 6 or more. We also saw 4 new households come to us this month. As might be expected, the inflation in food prices is straining our resources.
