At Noon we gather to walk the “Way of the Cross” commonly called “Stations of the Cross” through the church. Stopping at each station (stop) where we commemorate and meditate on the 14 acts of the passion. This lasts about 35 minutes and, if you have to be back at work, will get you there by 1pm.
Then, at 7pm (Available also via Zoom) we gather for the Full Good Friday Liturgy – The most solemn, simple service of the year. We begin as the priest enters and prostrates himself before the Altar. We move straight into the Collect of the day with no fanfare, lessons from Hosea, the Epistles, and the Passion Gospel. Then we pray the Solemn Collects as we stand, kneel, and stand using our whole bodies to pray for the Church and for the World. Then the cross is brought in with three stations – a mirror of the Paschal Candle’s progress on Easter Eve and we venerate the instrument of Christ’s death and our salvation. Finally we receive the sacrament from the supply reserved on the Altar of Repose from Maundy Thursday.
