What is that Good News?
In reading from the Hebrew scriptures and the reading from the Gospel we see two confrontations with God. In Second Samuel we hear part two of the sordid story of David and Bathsheba.
But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
From Paul’s letter to the Ephesians: God destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace that he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. In the Name of the one, holy, and undivided Trinity. Amen.

Why is the Ascension so important?
Love is indeed a many splendored thing.
The odd thing is that the Greek word translated by “prunes” really means “cleansed” or “purified.”
We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us– and we ought to lay down our lives for one another.
